Newcastle United Are Eager To Recruit This Inter Milan Midfielder: What Will He Add To Howe’s Team?

In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Newcastle United are eager to recruit Inter Milan midfielder, Nicolo Barella. It has been mentioned that the Magpies are keen on signing the Italian talent in next summer’s transfer window.

Barella’s Impressive Campaign At San Siro

Barella has made a solid start to this campaign as he has been responsible for putting in a series of influential displays for Inter at the centre of the park. The 26-year-old has picked up one assist in ten matches for the Italian outfit this season across various competitions.

The Italian midfield ace has given a good account of himself by averaging 1.6 tackles, 0.9 shots and 1.3 key passes per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been tidy when distributing possession from midfield after making 87.7% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).

Barella is under contract at the Italian club until the summer of 2026 which could make it difficult for the Magpies to sign him on a cut-price deal next year.

What Will Barella Add To Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe’s Side?

Barella can get stuck in with a few solid tackles to make life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park. He can strike the ball with venom from long range and has got the eye to play a few decisive passes in the opponent’s half.

The Italian sensation is a good distributor of the ball but needs to add a few more goals to his game if he wants to taste more success at the highest level.

Barella would no doubt enhance the quality of Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe’s first XI. He has what it takes to help the Magpies challenge for some major honours over the next few years. Thus, Howe should think about going all out to bring Barella to St. James’ Park in 2024.

Barella would add more energy and dynamism to Newcastle‘s midfield and could be a real asset for the Tyneside club. At 26, the best is yet to come from the Italian midfield ace, so it makes sense for the Magpies to snap him up next summer.
