West Ham United locked horns with Aston Villa at Villa Park earlier today as they hoped to secure a good result on the road in the Premier League. The Hammers made a slow start to the game and shipped in the opening goal in the 30th minute when Douglas Luiz got his name on the scoresheet. David Moyes’ men went into the half-time break 1-0 down on the scoreline.
Luiz doubled his team’s advantage in the 51st minute via the penalty spot. However, West Ham responded positively just five minutes later when Jarrod Bowen found the back of the net. However, Ollie Watkins restored Aston Villa’s two-goal lead in the 74th minute before Leon Bailey scored in the latter stages of the game. The match ended with the Hammers suffering a poor 4-1 loss away from home.
