In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans is gathering interest from Spain. It has been claimed that both Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad are hoping to sign him from the Villans in the January transfer window.
Tielemans’ Frustrations At Villa Park
Tielemans has endured a frustrating spell at the West Midlands club after failing to secure a regular place in Unai Emery’s squad. He has recently fallen out of favour with the Aston Villa boss.
The Belgian talent has featured in 13 matches for the Villans this season but is yet to score or assist a goal across multiple competitions. He has made all of his league appearances off the bench as he has seen himself fall behind Douglas Luiz and Boubacar Kamara in Emery’s pecking order.
Tielemans is under contract at Villa Park will run out in the summer of 2027. However, he is now facing an uncertain future at the Midlands club.
Should Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery Cut Tielemans Loose?
Tielemans can strike the ball with venom from long range and has got the vision to create a few inviting chances in the final third. He is a good dribbler with the ball as well and usually works hard for his team on the defensive end of the field. Tielemans is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also function as a defensive midfielder or play in the number ten position if told to do so by his manager.
However, things have not worked out for the Belgian international at Villa Park. Thus, it makes sense for both the player and the West Midlands club to part ways with each other this January.
Tielemans could benefit from a switch to Spain while Aston Villa can definitely use the money generated from his potential sale to bring in a capable replacement this winter.
With all things considered, Emery should focus on cutting Tielemans loose when the transfer window commences at the start of January. The Villans simply cannot afford to keep an unhappy player at the club and should definitely allow him to leave in the winter transfer period.
