In a recent report, Defensa Central mentioned that Aston Villa are showing interest in Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos. It has been stated that the Villans are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Spanish talent.
Ceballos’ Struggles In Spanish Football This Season
The 27-year-old has struggled to earn regular playing minutes at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium this season. Ceballos has only featured in four matches for Los Blancos during this campaign across multiple competitions.
The Spanish sensation has made all of league appearances off the bench which could be why he is only averaging 0.7 tackles, 0.3 shots and 0.3 dribbles per game in La Liga. However, he has been excellent with his ball distribution based on his pass success rate of 94.6% in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Madrid club will run out in the summer of 2027. Thus, it won’t be easy for the Villans to sign him on a cut-price deal next year.
Should Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery Get Ceballos On Board?
Ceballos is a good tackler of the ball and can shoot the ball with venom from long range. He can make a few decent runs with the ball from midfield and is an accurate passer of the ball as well. However, the lack of game time has seen his confidence take a hit. Thus, it makes sense for the player to seek a move elsewhere in search of more playing opportunities in the coming seasons.
We can expect Ceballos to bring more quality to Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery’s midfield department. He has what it takes to become a regular starter at Villa Park and could go on to form a solid midfield partnership with Douglas Luiz at the West Midlands club.
Therefore, it is only logical for the Villans to go all out to get Ceballos on board in the winter transfer window or at the end of this season. He already knows the Premier League well from his time at Arsenal and won’t take much time to settle into life in English football if Aston Villa can find a way to snap him up soon.
