In a recent report, The Sun claimed that Aston Villa are facing tough competition for Juventus star Federico Chiesa. It has been stated that the Villans will have to rival Manchester United and Bayern Munich in the race to sign the Italian winger next year.
Chiesa’s Impressive Run Of Form In Serie A
Chiesa has made an impressive start to this campaign for Juve as he has caught the eye with his contributions in the final third. The Italian talent has banged in four goals and secured one assist in seven matches for the Turin outfit this season in Serie A.
The 25-year-old has been a reliable performer on the attacking end of the pitch and had done well to average 2.4 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A football. He has even been accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half based on his pass success rate of 75.6% in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at Juventus will expire in the summer of 2025. Hence, the Villans could potentially land him on a cut-price deal at the end of this campaign.
Aston Villa Are Facing Stiff Competition For Chiesa: Is He Worth The Fight?
Chiesa is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the eye to play a few decisive passes in the final third. He can even shoot the ball with venom and accuracy from all ranges.
The Italian talent has done well to contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals for Juventus this season. He is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also fill in as an attacking midfielder or play as a right-winger if asked to do so by his manager.
We can expect Chiesa to enhance the quality of Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery’s first XI considerably and help the Villans challenge across all fronts in the coming seasons.
There is no denying that Chiesa will be well worth the fight, so the West Midlands club should focus on getting a deal done for him in the upcoming winter transfer window or at the end of this campaign. However, only time will tell whether the Juve star can make a smooth transition to life in England.
