In a recent report, Gazeta Esportivo mentioned that Arsenal remain keen on recruiting Fluminense midfielder Andre. It has been stated that the Gunners will rival Liverpool in the race to sign the Brazilian whizkid with Fluminense willing to listen to offers at the end of this season.
Andre’s Impressive Rise In Brazilian Football
Andre has enjoyed a meteoric rise at the Brazilian club as he came through their youth ranks before establishing himself in their senior team. The 22-year-old has already made 158 appearances for Fluminense thus far, scoring four goals and grabbing three assists in multiple competitions.
The Algodao-born talent has caught the eye by averaging 2.1 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, 0.7 clearances, 0.8 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per game in the Brasileirao. He has even been excellent when distributing the ball from midfield after completing 94.8% of his attempted passes in the Brazilian first division (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at Fluminense will run out at the end of 2026. Therefore, the Gunners will have to make a good offer if they want to win the race for his services in the January transfer period.
What Will Andre Add To Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta’s Team?
Andre loves a tackle and can make a few timely interceptions for his team at the centre of the park. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and is a decent dribbler with the ball as well.
We can expect Andre to add more quality and depth to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta‘s match-day squad. He has the potential to become a future star at the Emirates Stadium as long as he continues to improve with each season.
At 22, Andre’s ceiling is quite high which makes him a decent option for the Gunners to consider when the transfer reopens this January. Arteta could be the ideal man to oversee his development and unlock the best out of the Brazilian youngster in the long run.
However, it remains to be seen whether Andre can cope with the physical nature and high intensity of Premier League football if Arsenal manage to get him on board this winter.
