In a recent tweet, journalist Thiago Ferreira claimed that Arsenal are keeping tabs on Fluminense midfielder Andre. It has been stated that the Gunners are monitoring the progress of the Brazilian talent but would have to rival Liverpool in pursuit of him.
Andre’s Impressive Rise In The Brasileirao
The 22-year-old has come through the youth ranks of Fluminense and has done well to establish himself as a crucial member of their starting XI. Andre has participated in 156 senior matches for the Brazilian outfit this season, netting four goals and grabbing three assists across all competitions.
The Algodao-born talent has been a decent performer in both halves based on his average of 2.1 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 0.7 clearances, 0.8 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Brasileirao. He was even accurate when distributing possession from midfield after completing 94.6% of his attempted passes in the Brazilian top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Brazilian club will run out at the end of 2026. Hence, it won’t be easy for the Gunners to sign him on the cheap next year.
What Will Andre Add To Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta’s Side?
Andre is a tough-tackling midfielder who can read the danger quickly and can make some important interceptions for his team at the centre of the park. He doesn’t hesitate to clear the danger when the opposition are on the offensive. Andre is primarily a holding midfielder but can also operate as a box-to-box midfielder or as an attacking midfielder if asked to do so.
The Brazilian midfield ace can even engineer a few inviting chances for others around him in the final third. He is a decent dribbler with the ball as well.
We can expect Andre to add more quality and depth to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta‘s midfield department. He is more than capable of challenging for a regular starting spot at the Emirates Stadium.
Furthermore, Andre could go on to form a solid midfield partnership with Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard at the North London club in the coming seasons. Hence, the Gunners would be wise to try everything in their power to acquire the services of the Brazilian sensation in 2024.
