Newcastle United will welcome Borussia Dortmund at St. James’ Park this Wednesday night as they look to secure a positive result at home in the UEFA Champions League. The Magpies managed to earn a dominant 4-0 win over Crystal Palace recently which will give them a lot of confidence ahead of this game.
Eddie Howe will set his side up in a 4-3-3 formation and could be inclined to name a strong team for this European clash. Miguel Almiron will get a chance to impress from the start of this game while Jacob Murphy makes way for him and drops to the bench.
4-3-3 Newcastle United Predicted Lineup To Face Borussia Dortmund
Defence
Nick Pope will feature in between the sticks for the Magpies after keeping a clean sheet in his last outing. Jamaal Lascelles will continue to play alongside Fabian Schar at the centre of Newcastle’s defence as they try to keep the Dortmund attackers frustrated throughout the 90 minutes.
Dan Burn will fill in as the left-back while Kieran Trippier looks to give a good account of himself on the other flank as the right-back. Both of them will be eager to get forward and join in on the attack at every chance they get.
Paul Dummett and Matt Targett will be named on the bench as they offer cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Sean Longstaff, Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton will anchor the midfield for the Magpies as they try to make life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park. All three of them would have to create some decent chances for their teammates up top if Newcastle want to secure a convincing win in this game.
Elliot Anderson will be named on the bench as he waits for his chance to impress in the second half if needed.
Attack
Anthony Gordon will try to catch the eye on the left flank while Miguel Almiron hopes to weave his magic from the right wing. Callum Wilson will lead the charge for the Tyneside outfit on the attacking end of the field.
Alexander Isak will have to be content with a spot on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the final quarter if required.
