In a recent report, Sozcu provided an update on the future of Everton midfielder Andre Gomes. It is understood that the Toffees have offered the Portuguese talent to Fenerbahce ahead of the Turkish transfer deadline.
Gomes’ Impressive Loan Spell At Lille
Gomes had a solid loan spell at Lille in the previous campaign as he put in a run of influential displays for them at the centre of the park. The Portugal international netted three goals and earned a couple of assists in 27 matches for the French club last season across various competitions.
The 30-year-old was a decent contributor at the heart of Lille’s midfield based on his average of 1.4 tackles, 0.7 shots, 0.5 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. He even distributed the ball accurately after completing 89.2% of his attempted passes in the French top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Merseyside club will run out at the end of this campaign. Hence, it makes sense financially for Sean Dyche to cash in on him soon or else risk losing him as a free agent next summer.
Everton Offer Gomes To Fenerbahce: Good Move For Everyone Involved?
Gomes is a good tackler of the ball and can generate a lot of power with his shot attempts from long range. He is an energetic dribbler with the ball and can orchestrate some promising chances for others around him in the final third.
The Portuguese talent is on an expiring contract at Everton. Hence, Dyche would be wise to sell him on a cut-price deal or else risk losing him for nothing at the end of this campaign.
All in all, it seems like Gomes’ transfer to Fenerbahce would be a good move for both the player and the Merseyside club.
