Tottenham Hotspur welcomed Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier this evening as they hoped to earn a positive result at home in the Premier League. Spurs made a decent start to the game and took the lead in the 36th minute via Heung-min Son’s finish after Curtis Jones was sent off just ten minutes prior. However, the visitors responded thanks to Cody Gakpo’s excellent finish in the first half injury-time. Both teams went into the half-time break with a 1-1 scoreline.
Diogo Jota was sent off as well in the 69th minute. Spurs finally managed to make their numerical advantage count and got their noses ahead thanks to Joel Matip’s unfortunate own goal in the 96th minute. The match ended with the North London club securing a last-gasp 2-1 win in front of their home fans.
