In a recent report, Het Nieuwsblad mentioned that Isaac Hayden is set to leave Newcastle United on loan soon. It has been claimed that the English talent will leave the Magpies to join Standard Liege on loan for the remainder of this campaign.
Hayden’s Positive Loan Spell At Norwich City Last Season
Hayden had a decent loan spell at Norwich City recently as he managed to produce a few solid displays for them at the centre of the park. The English sensation featured in 14 matches for the Canaries last season but failed to find the back of the net or assist a goal for them across various competitions.
The 28-year-old offered decent protection for his teammates at the back by averaging 1.6 tackles, 1.1 interceptions and 1.1 clearances per 90 minutes in the EFL Championship. He was even tidy when distributing the ball from midfield after making 80.8% of his attempted passes in the second tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
Hayden is under contract at the Tyneside club until the summer of 2026. Thus, it makes sense for the Magpies to let him leave on loan this month as he is currently not an important player in Eddie Howe’s squad.
Newcastle United Midfielder Isaac Hayden Set To Join Standard Liege On Loan: Good Move For Everyone Involved?
Hayden loves a tackle and is full of energy and running in the middle of the park. He can time his challenges well to secure possession back for his team.
The English midfield ace usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot. He is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also function as a central defender if told to do so by his manager.
Hayden is currently not an irreplaceable member of Howe’s squad. Thus, the Magpies can definitely allow him to leave so that the player can earn regular playing time away from English football.
Hayden’s departure on loan to Standard Liege could be a good move for both the player and the Tyneside club. Howe would hope that the English sensation can come back as a better version of himself at the end of this campaign.
