In a recent report, ESport3 mentioned that Real Madrid defender David Alaba is gathering interest from Saudi Arabia. It has been stated that the clubs from the Middle East nation are looking to sign the Austrian talent from Los Blancos next year.
Alaba’s Good Run Of Form In La Liga
The 31-year-old has made a decent start to this season after putting in some solid performances at the centre of Real Madrid’s backline. Alaba has registered one assist in four appearances for the Madrid giants during this campaign in La Liga.
The Austrian sensation has given a good account of himself by averaging 0.8 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 3.0 clearances, 1.0 shots and 1.0 key passes per game in La Liga. He was even accurate when distributing possession from inside his half based on his pass completion rate of 92.3% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium will run out in the summer of 2026. Thus, Carlo Ancelotti is under no pressure to let him go this January or at the end of this campaign.
Can Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Afford To Lose Alaba?
Alaba is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure possession back for his team when defending inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when required and is even proficient at playing his way out from the back.
The Austrian talent is primarily a central defender but can also operate as a left-back if asked to do so. He has got a wealth of experience at the highest level and could be a key player for Carlo Ancelotti‘s side this season.
At 31, Alaba has still got plenty of football left in him. He remains one of the most valuable members of Ancelotti’s squad. Thus, Los Blancos simply cannot afford to lose a player of his quality in 2024.
The Madrid outfit would be better off keeping hold of Alaba for the duration of his contract unless they receive a massive fee for him during the January transfer window or next summer. The Austrian defensive ace still has what it takes to help Real Madrid challenge for some major honours over the next few years.
