In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Real Madrid are hoping to land AC Milan talent Davide Calabria next year. It has been stated that Los Blancos are eyeing a move for the Italian defender in 2024.
Calabria’s Solid Campaign At San Siro So Far
Calabria has made a decent start to this campaign after putting in a few impressive displays on the right side of AC Milan’s defence. The 26-year-old has featured in five matches for the Italian outfit this season, picking up one assist in the process across all fronts. However, he has yet to open his goal-scoring account for this campaign.
The AC Milan captain has been a positive influence in both halves as he is averaging 1.8 tackles, 1.5 interceptions, 1.8 clearances, 1.0 shots and 0.8 key passes per 90 minutes in Serie A football. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from the right flank based on his pass success rate of 90.9% in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at San Siro will run out in the summer of 2025. Hence, Real Madrid could potentially land Calabria on a cut-price deal at the end of this campaign.
Will Calabria Be A Good Choice For Real Madrid?
Calabria is a good tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to earn possession back for his side inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when required and can even shoot the ball with venom from long range.
The Italian full-back can even create a few inviting chances for his teammates up top. He is primarily a right-back but can also fill in as a left-back if told to do so.
We can expect Calabria to bring more quality to Real Madrid‘s defence. At 26, he is about to enter his prime soon which makes him a decent choice for Los Blancos to consider at the end of this season.
Calabria might even help the Madrid giants challenge for some major honours over the next few years as long as he can make a smooth transition to life in Spain. All in all, Real Madrid would be wise to go all out to bring the Italian sensation on board in 2024.
