Aston Villa will entertain Brighton and Hove Albion at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon as they look to grab all three points at home in the Premier League. The Villans suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Everton in the EFL Cup recently which has halted their moment going into this game.
Unai Emery will set his side up in a 4-4-2 formation with Moussa Diaby and Ollie Watkins expected to spearhead the West Midlands club’s attack up top.
4-4-2 Aston Villa Predicted Lineup To Face Brighton
Defence
Emiliano Martinez will feature in goal for the Villans after being rested in midweek. Ezri Konsa will get another chance to impress alongside Pau Torres at the centre of Emery’s defence as they try to keep the Brighton attackers frustrated throughout the 90 minutes.
Lucas Digne will hope to give a good account of himself as the left-back while Matty Cash looks to catch the eye on the other side as the right-back. Emery would ask both of them to perform their defensive duties well before offering some decent service to their teammates up top.
Robin Olsen will offer cover for the goal-keeping position on the bench.
Midfield
Douglas Luiz will anchor the midfield alongside Boubacar Kamara as they focus on making life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park.
Nicolo Zaniolo could get an opportunity to impress on the left flank while John McGinn looks to put in a tireless display on the right-wing. Both of them need to stretch the pitch well so that they can get in behind the Brighton backline at every chance they get.
Jacob Ramsey is a major doubt for this game. However, Youri Tielemans will be fit for a place on Emery’s bench and might come on to make an impact later in the contest if required.
Attack
Ollie Watkins will once again operate alongside Moussa Diaby in the final third. They will both carry most of the goal-scoring workload for the Villans up top.
Jhon Duran will be available for selection on the bench as he waits for his chance to influence the game in the latter stages if Aston Villa are in need of a goal by then.
