In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Barcelona are dreaming of signing Newcastle United ace Alexander Isak this summer. It has been stated that the Catalan club are hoping to move in for the Swedish centre-forward in the future.
Isak’s Impressive Form At Newcastle This Season
Isak is having a decent campaign at St. James’ Park as he has put in a couple of impressive displays for them recently. The 23-year-old has scored two goals in four matches for the Magpies in the Premier League.
The Swedish sensation has led the line well by averaging 2.0 shots and 1.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even distributed the ball relatively well after completing 76.1% of his attempted passes in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
Isak’s current contract at the Tyneside club will expire in the summer of 2028. Therefore, Barca would have to make a big offer if they are serious about signing the Swedish striker next year. However, it remains to be seen whether Isak can maintain his good form in La Liga if Xavi manages to get him on board.
Should Barcelona Head Coach Xavi Snap Isak Up?
Isak excels at creating a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He can be a good finisher in front of the opponent’s goal when he is playing with confidence on the pitch.
The Swedish talent is also quite clever when making runs in and around the opposition penalty box. He mainly functions as a centre-forward but can also play as a left-winger if needed.
Isak will no doubt bolster the quality of Barcelona head coach Xavi’s frontline. He is good enough to serve as a decent backup to Robert Lewandowski at the Catalan club.
At 23, Isak has got his best years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for Barca to pursue next year. He has what it takes to help the Catalan giants challenge for some major honours in the future. With all things considered, Xavi would be wise to go all out to snap Isak up when the transfer window reopens this January or at the end of this campaign.
