In a recent report, Goal mentioned that Aston Villa wanted to recruit Juventus winger Federico Chiesa this summer. However, it is understood that the Villans failed to land the Italian wide player even though they were willing to put an offer of around €70m on the table.
Chiesa’s Recent Form In Italian Football
Chiesa was a sporadic presence in Juventus’ squad last season when he made a lot of his appearances for them off the bench. The Italian sensation did well to score four times and earn six assists in 33 matches for the Turin outfit in the previous campaign across various competitions.
The 25-year-old saw most of his playing time come as a substitute but deserves credit for averaging 1.2 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per game in Serie A. He was even accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half after completing 78.5% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at Juve will run out in the summer of 2025. Thus, Aston Villa would be wise to go back in for him at the end of this campaign when he might be available on a cut-price deal.
Should Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery Move In For Chiesa Next Year?
Chiesa is a good dribbler with the ball and can make a few dangerous runs with the ball out on the flanks. He has got the vision to create a few inviting chances on the attacking end of the pitch and can shoot the ball with venom and precision from all ranges.
The Italian sensation can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals in the opponent’s half. However, he has to find a way to improve his passing accuracy.
Chiesa is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also function as a right-winger or play as an attacking midfielder if told to do so.
We can expect Chiesa to bring more firepower to Aston Villa boss Unai Emery’s attack if the Villans decide to go back for him in the future. He is good enough to secure a regular starting spot at Villa Park next season. All in all, Emery would be wise to move in for Chiesa when the transfer window reopens this January.
