In a recent report, Defensa Central stated that Aston Villa are ready to move in for Real Madrid ace Dani Ceballos next year. It is believed that the Villans are willing to double the Spanish midfielder’s current wages to lure him to Villa Park this January.
Ceballos’ Recent Frustrations At The Santiago Bernabeu Stadium
Ceballos is yet to make an appearance for the Madrid giants this season. However, the Spaniard served as an important member of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad in the previous campaign when he netted one goal and grabbed nine assists in 46 matches for Los Blancos across all competitions.
The 27-year-old was a positive influence at both ends of the pitch as he averaged 1.4 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 0.6 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has also been excellent when distributing the ball from midfield after making 91.7% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Spanish football (stats via whoscored).
Ceballos is under contract at the Madrid club until the summer of 2027. Thus, the Villans would have to make a convincing offer if they want to bring him on board next year.
What Will Ceballos Bring To Aston Villa?
Ceballos is a tough-tackling midfielder who can make some timely interceptions for his side when he is playing well on the pitch. He is a good dribbler with the ball and has got the vision to create some decent plays for others around him in the opposition half.
Ceballos is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can function as a left-winger or play in the number ten position if needed.
The Spanish talent can even shoot the ball with power from long range. He is a tidy passer of the ball as well but needs to find a way to add more goals to his game.
At 27, Ceballos is about to enter his prime soon. Furthermore, he already knows the Premier League from his time at Arsenal and would be a great signing for the Villans if Unai Emery can devise a way to recruit him this January.
Ceballos would add more quality to Aston Villa‘s midfield department. He will even help the West Midlands club challenge for a European spot in the Premier League over the next few years.
