In a recent report, Mundo Deportivo revealed that Arsenal midfielder Jorginho is on the radar of Barcelona. It has been claimed that the Catalan club are hoping to land the Italian talent from the Gunners in the January transfer window.
Jorginho’s Good Form In North London Last Season
The 31-year-old was a decent performer for Arsenal in the previous campaign when he produced some impressive performances for them at the centre of the park. Jorginho has featured in a total of 19 matches for the London club so far, securing one assist in all competitions.
The Italian sensation gave a good account of himself at the centre of Mikel Arteta’s midfield and did well to average 1.3 tackles, 0.6 interceptions and 0.6 dribbles per game in Premier League football. He was even careful when distributing possession based on his pass success rate of 87.6% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
Jorginho is under contract at Arsenal until the end of this season. Hence, it is only logical for Arsenal to cash in on him this January or else risk losing him on a free transfer next summer.

Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Let Jorginho Go This January?
Jorginho can get stuck in with a few solid tackles to make life difficult for the opposition at the centre of the park. He can make some timely interceptions for his team when he is playing with confidence on the field and is usually quite clever with his movements in and around the opponent’s penalty area.
The Italian talent is an expert penalty taker as well. However, at the moment, he is currently surplus to requirements at Arsenal.
Jorginho would struggle to earn regular playing time at the North London club if he opts to honour the remainder of his contract. Hence, it will be a good move for both the player and the Gunners to part ways with each other in search of more success this winter.
At 31, father time is slowly catching up with Jorginho’s game. Hence, Arteta would be wise to let the Italian midfield ace leave when the transfer window commences in January. Arsenal could use the money generated from his potential sale to strengthen other areas of their squad next year.
