West Ham United will entertain Backa Topola at the London Stadium this Thursday night as they look to secure a positive result in the UEFA Europa League. The Hammers suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City recently, so they would be eager to get back to winning ways in midweek.
David Moyes will set his players up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make a few changes to his first XI for this game. Danny Ings will get the nod to lead the line for the East London club in the final third. However, Edson Alvarez is a major doubt for this game after suffering a knock recently.
4-2-3-1 West Ham United Predicted Lineup To Face Backa Topola
Defence
Lukasz Fabianski will feature in between the sticks for the Hammers as he looks to earn a clean sheet at home. Kurt Zouma will play alongside Konstantinos Mavropanos at the centre of Moyes’ defence as they try to keep things solid at the back during the 90 minutes.
Thilo Kehrer would look to give a good account of himself as the right-back while Aaron Cresswell fills in on the other flank as the left-back. Moyes will give both of them the license to get forward and express themselves in the opponent’s half.
Nayef Aguerd will provide cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Midfield
Edson Alvarez, who will be in a race against time to be fit for this game, and Tomas Soucek will anchor the midfield for the East London giants as they focus on dominating possession and creating some decent chances in the final third.
The talented trio of Said Benrahma, Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen will function just ahead of them as part of Moyes’ attack. Kudus would be eager to impress and prove his worth to the West Ham supporters in this midweek clash.
James Ward-Prowse and Lucas Paqueta will be rested on the bench but might come on to make an impact in the second half if needed.
Attack
Danny Ings will lead the charge for West Ham on the attacking end of the pitch. He would be hungry to find the back of the net versus Backa Topola.
Michail Antonio will have to be content with a spot on the bench as he waits for his opportunity to influence the game as a late-game substitute if Moyes opts to call upon his services.
