In a recent report, AS mentioned that West Ham United have reignited their interest in Sevilla forward Youssef En-Nesyri this summer. It has been stated that the Hammers are eyeing a move to bring the Moroccan striker to the London Stadium in this ongoing transfer window.
En-Nesyri’s Decent Form In Spanish Football Last Season
En-Nesyri had another productive season at the Andalusian club after putting in a series of impressive displays for them on the attacking third of the pitch. The 26-year-old registered 18 goals and picked up a couple of assists in 48 appearances for Sevilla in the previous campaign in multiple competitions.
The Fes-born talent caught the eye at times by averaging 1.9 shots and 0.3 key passes per game in La Liga. However, he lacked quality when distributing possession in the final third based on his pass success rate of 65.7% in the Spanish top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Andalusian club will expire in the summer of 2025. Hence, West Ham would have to make a convincing offer if they want to recruit En-Nesyri.
What Will En-Nesyri Add To West Ham United Boss David Moyes’ Team?
En-Nesyri excels at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. The Moroccan sensation can be a streaky goal-scorer in front of the opponent’s goal when he is playing well on the field. However, En-Nesyri needs to find a way to improve his ball distribution in the final third.
The Sevilla talent mainly functions as a centre-forward but can also fill in as a winger on either flank if asked to do so by his manager.
We can expect En-Nesyri to add more goals to West Ham head coach David Moyes‘ attack as long as he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League. At 26, he is about to enter his prime soon which makes him a worthy target for the Hammers to pursue before the end of this summer transfer window.
En-Nesyri would give Moyes more options on the attacking end of the field and could help the East London club challenge for European football once again this season.
