Johnson’s Impressive Numbers At Nottingham Last Season
Johnson had a promising campaign at the City Ground recently as he was responsible for producing a run of influential displays for Nottingham in the final third. The 22-year-old managed to score ten goals and pick up three assists in 44 matches for the English outfit last season across all competitions.
The Welsh attacker caught the eye at times in the opponent’s half and did well to average 1.4 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game in Premier League football. However, he lacked quality when interchanging possession with his teammates after making only 62.8% of his attempted passes in the English top flight (stats via whoscored).
Johnson is under contract at Nottingham until the summer of 2026. Thus, it won’t be easy for Spurs to secure his services on a cut-price deal this month.
Will Johnson Be The Right Fit For Tottenham Hotspur?
Johnson is a great dribbler with the ball and can make a few driving runs with the ball in the final third when he is playing well on the field. He has got the eye to play a killer pass in the opposition half and can even strike the ball with venom from long range.
The Welsh talent primarily operates in the number ten position but can also function as a winger on either flank if asked to do so. He has already gained some valuable experience in the Premier League.
We can expect Johnson to bring more quality to Tottenham head coach Angelos Postecoglu‘s frontline. At 22, he has got a bright future ahead, so the North London club can expect to get the best out of him if they are willing to be patient with his development.
All in all, Johnson would be a decent fit for Spurs‘ needs at the moment as he would be able to help the London giants challenge across all fronts over the next few years.
