In a recent report, The Daily Mail mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to sign Nottingham Forest playmaker Brennan Johnson this summer. It has been stated that Spurs are willing to use Djed Spence and Joe Rodon as makeweights to sign the Welsh talent in this off-season.
Johnson’s Impressive Run Of Form At Nottingham Last Season
Johnson had a fruitful campaign at the City Ground as he has been a run of impressive displays for Nottingham in the final third. The 22-year-old banged in ten goals and earned three assists in 44 appearances for the English outfit last season in various competitions.
The Nottingham-born talent was a joy to watch in the final third based on his average of 1.4 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. However, he lacked quality when distributing the ball in the opposition half after making only 62.8% of his attempted passes in the English top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the English club is set to run out in the summer of 2026. Therefore, Spurs will have to make a sizable offer if they want to bring him on board in this ongoing transfer period.
Is Johnson A Good Signing For Tottenham Hotspur?
Johnson is a decent playmaker in the opponent’s half as he has got the eye to play a few decisive passes in the final third. He can even strike the ball well from long range and is proficient at making a few driving runs with the ball in and around the opposition penalty box.
Johnson will add more firepower to Tottenham head coach Angelos Postecoglu‘s attack. He has what it takes to help Spurs challenge for a top-six finish in the Premier League next season.
At 22, Johnson has got a bright future ahead of him which makes him a decent signing for the North London club to pursue for the long run.
