Rangers finished it all square at Ibrox against PSV in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League playoffs. They travelled to Dingwall this afternoon to clash heads with Ross County, and a commanding win on the road must have augmented their confidence now ahead of locking horns with the Dutch giants on Wednesday night.
Below are the Rangers players rated in their win against Ross County.
Jack Butland: 7
Was hardly tested between the sticks and had little trouble en route to registering another league clean sheet. Could have been better with his distribution.
James Tavernier: 8.5
Another influential performance from Captain Fantastic who not only posed a constant threat with his overlapping runs and attacking expertise but also doubled the lead with a sublime strike midway through the first half.
Connor Goldson: 7.5
Commanded the defensive game with his physicality and sense of positioning. Was spot-on with his tackles and recoveries all throughout the contest.
John Souttar: 8
Another resolute performance from the Scotsman who made some no-nonsense clearances, interceptions and challenges. Dominated the duels, particularly in the air against Jordan White.
Borna Barisic: 8
Set it up perfectly for Kemar Roofe from the corner as the latter made no mistake to nod it home and break the deadlock. Whipped in crosses from the left-hand flank that led to more chances for the Gers’ attack.
John Lundstram: 7.5
Was clumsy at times with his tackles, but the midfield ace commanded the show with his composure and experience. Broke down an array of Staggies attacks with tactical fouls.
Nicolas Raskin: 7.5
Combated well in the centre of the pitch as he not only won the duels but also dribbled past the opponents’ midfield time and again. Made way for Ryan Jack late in the game.
Todd Cantwell: 6.5
Had a free role in midfield, but the ex-Norwich City star failed to leave an impact except for a few passes into the final third. Got dribbled past twice and was taken off for Tom Lawrence around the 73rd-minute mark.
Sam Lammers: 7
Was denied by Ross Laidlaw late in the first half. Operated from the wide which does not seem to be his natural position. Was taken off for Rabbi Matondo around the hour mark.
Kemar Roofe: 8
Returned to the starting XI recovering from his persistent injury problems and exhibited his poaching traits with a neat finish to make it 1-0. Made way for Abdallah Sima around the hour mark.
Cyriel Dessers: 7
Was lively high up the pitch with his link-up play. Forced Laidlaw to make saves and his movements often caused menace in the Ross County backline.
