In a recent report, journalist Tomas Gonzalez-Martin mentioned that Real Madrid have been offered a chance to sign Chelsea frontman Romelu Lukaku this summer. It has been stated that Los Blancos have been handed an opportunity to land the Belgian sensation in this ongoing transfer period.
Lukaku’s Good Loan Spell At Inter Milan
Lukaku experienced a fruitful loan spell at Inter Milan in the previous campaign as he put in a handful of impressive performances for them up top. The Belgium international found the back of the net on 14 occasions and earned seven assists in 37 appearances for the Milan club last season across various competitions.
The Antwerpen-born centre-forward has proven his worth as a decent performer by averaging 2.0 shots, 1.3 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per game in Serie A. However, he has to find a way to improve his ball distribution in the opponent’s half as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 72.5% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Lukaku’s current deal at his parent club Chelsea will expire in 2026. Hence, Los Blancos will have to make a convincing offer if they want to sign him soon.
What Will Lukaku Add To Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti’s Side?
Lukaku can create a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He can play a few decisive passes in the final third and is a powerful runner with the ball.
Standing at 1.91m, Lukaku can use his strong frame to win his fair share of aerial duels. However, the Belgian talent needs to find a way to improve his link-up play on the attacking end of the field.
Lukaku is good enough to add more firepower to Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s frontline. He would serve as a solid replacement for Karim Benzema who left the Madrid club earlier this year. The Belgian talent would also bring some serious competition for Rodrygo and Joselu at the Spanish club.
At 30, Lukaku might still have a couple of good years left in him. Hence, he would be a decent, short-term signing for Real Madrid to pull off before the end of this transfer window.
