In a recent report, Defensa Central claimed that Real Madrid are showing interest in Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies this summer. It has been stated that Los Blancos are eager to recruit the talented full-back but a deal is more likely in 2024.
Davies’ Excellent Form In Bundesliga Last Season
Davies enjoyed another impressive campaign at the Bavarian club as he continued to perform at a high level on the left flank. The 22-year-old found the back of the net on three occasions and earned eight assists in 38 matches for Bayern Munich last season in various competitions.
The Canadian talent was a decent performer in both halves based on his average of 1.7 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 0.7 clearances, 0.7 shots, 1.7 key passes and 2.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. He was even accurate when distributing the ball from the left flank as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 87.2% in the German top-flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Allianz Arena is set to expire in the summer of 2025. Therefore, it won’t be easy for Los Blancos to sign him on the cheap in this off-season.
Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Snap Davies Up Next Year?
Davies loves a tackle and can scan the danger well to secure the ball back for his side on the defensive third of the pitch. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when the opposition are on the offensive. Davies is primarily a left-back but can also function as a left wing-back or play as a left-winger if needed.
The Canadian full-back is a decent dribbler with the ball and can use his pace to make a few overlapping runs on the left flank. He can strike the ball purely and with power from long range and has got the vision to orchestrate a few decent chances in the final third.
We can expect Davies to add a lot of quality to Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti‘s defence. He will also help Los Blancos compete for a lot of major honours in the coming seasons. Hence, it is a no-brainer for the Madrid giants to try and snap Davies up on a cut-price deal next summer when he will just have a year left in his Bayern contract.
