In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Real Madrid are eager to sign Bayer 04 Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong next summer. It has been stated that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Dutch full-back at the end of this campaign.
Frimpong’s Decent Season At Bayer Leverkusen
The 22-year-old managed to prove his worth as a reliable performer on the right side of Leverkusen’s backline last season. Frimpong netted nine goals and earned 11 assists in 48 appearances for the German club in the previous campaign across all competitions.
The Dutch talent was a decent contributor on the right flank and deserves credit for averaging 1.6 tackles, 0.5 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.1 shots, 1.3 key passes and 2.5 dribbles per game in Bundesliga. He even distributed the ball relatively well based on his pass success rate of 81.2% in the top tier of German football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the German club will run out in the summer of 2025. Thus, it makes sense for Los Blancos to try and get him for a reduced fee at the end of this season.
Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Snap Frimpong Up Next Summer?
Frimpong is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger quickly to make some timely interceptions for his team. He usually clears the danger when the opposition are on the offensive.
The Dutch sensation can shoot the ball with venom from long range and can even create a few inviting opportunities for his teammates to find the back of the net. He can also make some driving runs with the ball on the right wing.
Frimpong is primarily a right-back but can also function as a left-back if required. Someone of his potential and versatility would be a great acquisition for Los Blancos next summer.
The Dutch talent would add more quality to Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s squad and help the Madrid giants challenge for some major honours over the next decade. At 22, Frimpong has got the ceiling to become a world-class player in his position someday. Thus, Real Madrid should focus on going all out to land him in 2024.
