Nottingham Forest Star Wants To Join Tottenham Hotspur: Should Ange Bring Him On Board?

In a recent media segment on Twitter, Ben Jacobs mentioned that Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson wants to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer. Jacobs said,

“That’s the same with Johnson too, it was partially about the output and it was also down to the fact that it has been reasonably well known among circles that if Tottenham come in then that will be the player’s choice and in addition to that Chelsea’s valuation of Brennan Johnson is somewhere in the region of £35 million, and it looks like it’s going to be a £50 million deal.”

Johnson’s Decent Run Of Form At The City Ground Last Season

The 22-year-old enjoyed an impressive season at Nottingham recently after he produced a series of eye-catching performances for them in the Premier League. Johnson netted ten goals and earned three assists in 44 appearances for his current employers in the previous campaign in various competitions.

The Welsh sensation was a decent performer in the final third based on his average of 1.4 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. However, he needs to work on improving his ball distribution as evidenced by his pass success rate of 62.8% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).

Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu Bring Johnson On Board?

Johnson can use his quickness to cause a lot of headaches for his marker out in the wide areas. He has got the eye to play a few decisive passes in the opponent’s half and is a decent dribbler with the ball as well. The Welsh attacker can even shoot the ball with power and precision from long range. He mainly plays as an attacking midfielder but can also fill in as a wide player if needed.

Johnson has what it takes to enhance the quality of Tottenham boss Angelos Postecoglu’s first XI. He might even help Spurs challenge for some major honours over the next few years. The Nottingham star is good enough to rival Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski for a regular starting spot at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season.

Therefore, the North London club should focus all their attention on bringing Johnson on board before the end of this transfer window.
