McTominay’s Decent Run Of Form In Manchester
McTominay experienced a solid season at the Mancunian club recently after he put in a series of solid performances at the centre of their midfield. The 26-year-old managed to score three goals and earned one assist in 39 appearances for the Red Devils in the previous campaign in multiple competitions.
The Lancaster-born sensation offered decent protection for his teammates at the back as he averaged 1.3 tackles, 0.6 interceptions and 1.9 clearances per game in Premier League football. He was even tidy when distributing the ball from midfield based on his pass completion rate of 82.9% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
McTominay’s current contract at the Mancunian club will expire in the summer of 2025. Therefore, the Magpies will have to pay a hefty fee if they are to stand a chance of recruiting him this summer.
Is McTominay The Right Fit For Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe?
McTominay is not shy of making a tackle and can read the danger well to secure possession back for his side at the centre of the park. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and can shoot the ball with power from long range.
The Scottish talent has got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. He can even make a few strong runs with the ball from midfield.
McTominay will add more bite and steel to Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe’s midfield. The Scottish full-back has what it takes to become a regular starter at St. James’ Park next season.
Hence, it makes sense for the Tyneside club to launch a move to sign McTominay during this summer transfer period. At 26, he has his prime years in front of him which makes him a good fit for Newcastle in the long run.
