According to a report from Mirror, Sofyan Amrabat is reportedly very enthusiastic about the possibility of joining Manchester United as ongoing rumours persist regarding his future and a potential move to Old Trafford.
Fabrizio Romano reveals that United has already engaged in talks with his representatives and is now being encouraged to finalise a deal with Fiorentina. Amrabat has a previous connection with Ten Hag, who previously managed him during their time at the Dutch side Utrecht, where he was promoted from the academy to the first team. However, it is understood that Manchester United may need to offload players before making further acquisitions, as they are on the verge of completing a deal for Hojlund.
Amrabat’s Campaign With Fiorentina Last Season
In the 2021/2022 season, Amrabat faced challenges during his time with Fiorentina. However, in the following campaign, he made a strong comeback by gaining more playing time, particularly in the central areas of the pitch. As a defensive midfielder, he featured in 34 matches for the Italian team, providing a single assist. Despite this, he proved to be a crucial member of Vincenzo Italiano’s squad.
Amrabat’s performances were marked by reliability and consistency in the holding midfield role, averaging 1.3 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, and 0.6 clearances per game in Serie A. He also demonstrated excellent ball distribution skills, boasting an impressive pass completion rate of 89.8% in the Italian top flight, as reported by whoscored.
Can Ten Hag Bring Him To Manchester United?
Amrabat exudes a commanding presence in the midfield, boasting an astute footballing intellect that allows him to effortlessly read the game, executing timely tackles, interceptions, and clearances. His tenacity and unwavering determination to regain possession frequently disrupt the opposition’s flow, solidifying his role as a defensive cornerstone for his team. Moreover, he displays remarkable efficiency in distributing the ball to his teammates and occasionally creates goal-scoring opportunities for them.
Nevertheless, it’s been acknowledged that United might need to sell players to fund acquisitions, especially since the deal for Hojlund is nearly finalized. United has already gained approximately £20m from the transfers of Anthony Elanga and Alex Telles, who have moved to Nottingham Forest and Al Nassr, respectively.
Furthermore, players such as Eric Bailly, Dean Henderson, Fred, and Donny van de Beek have been informed that they are free to leave the club. In addition, United are open to considering offers for Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay, provided the right financial terms are met by potential suitors. So if everything goes to plan, Amrabat could very well be on his way to Old Trafford.
