In a recent report, The Telegraph mentioned that Everton are close to recruiting Southampton forward Che Adams this summer. It has been stated that the Toffees are eager to land the Scottish attacker on a £15m deal this month.
Adams’ Difficult Campaign At Southampton
Adams experienced a tough season at the St. Mary’s Stadium last season when he struggled to help the Saints get out of the relegation zone in the Premier League. The 27-year-old scored ten times and picked up three assists in 35 appearances for Southampton in the previous campaign on all fronts.
The Leicester-born sensation proved himself to be a valuable contributor on the attacking third of the pitch and deserves credit for averaging 1.7 shots and 0.9 key passes per game in the Premier League. However, he needs to work on improving his link-up play in and around the opponent’s penalty box, based on his pass completion rate of 67.6% in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the English club will run out next summer which could now open the door for the Toffees to snap him up before the end of this transfer window.
What Will Adams Bring To Everton?
Adams can create a yard of space for himself to get a few shots in at goal. The Southampton centre-forward has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third when he is playing well on the pitch.
Adams can also be quite clever with his movements in and around the opposition penalty box. The Scottish talent is primarily a centre-forward but can also function as a wide player on either flank if asked to do so by his manager.
Adams will definitely enhance the quality of Everton head coach Sean Dyche’s squad. He is good enough to fight for a regular starting spot at Goodison Park this season.
At 27, Adams is still playing in his prime and would no doubt add more goals to the Merseyside club‘s frontline. He already has enough Premier League experience by now and won’t have any trouble settling into Dyche’s brand of football at Everton.
