Newcastle United will welcome Liverpool to St. James’ Park on Sunday as they look to secure a win in this home encounter. The Magpies come into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 defeat to Manchester City, so they will be looking to bounce back this weekend.
Eddie Howe will make use of the 4-3-3 formation and is expected to name a strong starting XI for this clash. Harvey Barnes could get the nod over Anthony Gordon while Alexander Isak continues to lead the line up front.
4-3-3 Newcastle United Predicted XI Vs Liverpool
Defence
Nick Pope will function in goal for Newcastle after conceding one goal in his last appearance. Fabian Schar will continue to operate alongside Sven Botman at the centre of Newcastle’s defence as they look to keep things solid at the back throughout the game.
Dan Burn will play as the left-back while Kieran Trippier looks to catch the eye on the other side as the right-back. Both of them would have to perform their defensive duties well if they want to prevent the opposition from causing problems from the wide areas.
Jamaal Lascelles will have to be content with a spot on the bench as he provides cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Joelinton, Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali will make up Newcastle’s midfield as they try to win the 50-50 battles at the centre of the park. All three of them will need to move the ball well if they want to create some clear-cut chances on the counter.
Elliot Anderson and Sean Longstaff will be named on the bench as they wait for their opportunity to impress in the second half
Attack
Harvey Barnes will try to put in a positive performance as the left-winger while Miguel Almiron looks to catch the eye as the right-sided wide player.
Alexander Isak will once again spearhead Newcastle’s attack on his own up top. He will fancy his chances of finding the back of the net.
Callum Wilson and Anthony Gordon will be available for selection on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the latter stages if required.
