In a recent tweet, journalist Javi Miguel revealed that Barcelona are eyeing a move for Tottenham Hotspur ace Giovani Lo Celso this summer. It has been stated that the Catalan club are hoping to land the Argentine talent but will only move in for him if they fail to sign Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva in this off-season.
Si Bernardo cae, la prioridad es fichar a Lo Celso. En el lateral derecho, Xavi insiste en Foyth, pero se barajan alternativas como Fresneda. Cancelo se ve lejos por las exigencias del City

Lo Celso’s Solid Loan Spell At Villarreal
The Argentine talent enjoyed a decent loan spell at Villarreal in the previous campaign as he produced a handful of eye-catching performances for them in the middle of the park. Lo Celso found the back of the net on two occasions and picked up three assists in 29 matches for the Spanish club last season on all fronts.
The 27-year-old was a decent performer at the centre of Villarreal’s midfield and deserves a ton of credit for averaging 1.5 tackles, 1.4 shots, 1.4 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He even distributed possession accurately from midfield after making 86.5% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
Lo Celso is under contract at Estadio de la Cerámica until the summer of 2025. Hence, Barcelona would have to launch a big move if they are serious about recruiting the South American midfield ace in this ongoing transfer window.
Will Lo Celso Be A Good Choice For Barcelona Head Coach Xavi?
Lo Celso is a solid tackler of the ball and can make a few decent chances for his teammates in the final third. He is a technically gifted footballer who can shoot the ball with venom and accuracy from long range.
The Argentine talent is a good dribbler with the ball as well. He mainly functions as an attacking midfielder but can also play as a box-to-box midfielder or as a right-sided wide player if asked to do so by his manager.
We can expect Lo Celso to bring more quality and depth to Barcelona head coach Xavi’s match-day squad. He has what it takes to challenge for a regular starting spot at the Catalan club next season.
At 27, Lo Celso is about to enter his prime soon which makes him a great choice for Barca to consider before the end of this summer transfer window.
