In a recent report, Sport stated that Aston Villa are planning to move in for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos this summer. It has been claimed that the Villans are hoping to make a concrete move to land the Spanish talent in this off-season.
Ceballos’ Impressive Campaign In Spanish Football
Ceballos enjoyed a decent campaign at the Madrid club as he put in a string of decent displays for them at the centre of the park. The 26-year-old scored one goal and grabbed nine assists in 46 matches for Los Blancos last season across all competitions.
The Spanish midfield ace was a positive influence at both ends of the field based on his average of 1.4 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 0.6 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He was even accurate when distributing the ball from midfield based on his pass completion rate of 91.7% in the Spanish top-flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium will run out in the summer of 2027. Therefore, Aston Villa will have to make a convincing offer if they want to bring him to Villa Park in this ongoing transfer window.
What Will Ceballos Add To Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery’s Side?
Ceballos is a good tackler of the ball and can make a few timely interceptions for his team in the middle of the park. He has got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third and can make some driving runs with the ball from midfield.
The Spanish sensation can strike the ball with venom from long range. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also function as a left-winger or play in the number ten position if asked to do so.
At 26, Ceballos is about to enter the peak years of his playing career and would add a lot of quality to Aston Villa boss Unai Emery’s midfield department. He might even help the Villans challenge for a top-half finish in the Premier League next season. Thus, it makes sense for the West Midlands giants to try and attempt to bring him to England during this summer transfer window.
