In a recent print edition, Mundo Deportivo stated that Aston Villa have launched an offer for Barcelona winger Abde Ezzalzouli. It has been claimed that the Villans are hoping to secure the services of the Moroccan youngster but could face competition from Bayer 04 Leverkusen before the end of this month.
Ezzalzouli’s Decent Loan Spell At Osasuna
Ezzalzouli caught the eye at times during his loan spell at Osasuna last season. The Morrocan sensation managed to put in a few influential displays and deserves credit for scoring six times and picking up a couple of assists in 34 appearances for the Spanish club in the previous campaign across various competitions.
The 21-year-old was a decent performer in the final third based on his average of 1.4 shots and 2.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. However, he needs to work on improving his link-up play in the opposition half as he completed just 74.2% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Nou Camp will run out in the summer of 2026. Therefore, it won’t be easy for Aston Villa to snap him up in this ongoing transfer window.
What Will Ezzalzouli Add To Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery’s Team?
Ezzalzouli can use his pace to make a few dangerous runs with the ball out in the wide areas. He excels at finding a yard of space for himself and can shoot the ball with power from long range when he is playing well on the pitch.
The Moroccan whizkid mainly operates as a left-winger but can also serve as a right-sided wide player if told to do so by his manager.
We can expect Ezzalzouli to add more quality to Aston Villa boss Unai Emery’s attack. He is already good enough to challenge for a regular starting spot at Villa Park this season.
At 21, the future looks quite promising for Ezzalzouli. However, there are some question marks over whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of English football. Still, there is no denying his quality and potential, so the Villans would be wise to go all out to try and land him before the end of this summer transfer window.
