In a recent report, Tuttosport (via Sport Witness) claimed that Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is on the radar of Juventus. It has been mentioned that the Turin club are hoping to sign the Ghana international from the Gunners during this summer transfer window.
Partey’s Impressive Run Of Form At The Emirates Stadium
Partey enjoyed a great season at the North London club as he has put in a series of impressive displays at the heart of Mikel Arteta’s midfield. The 30-year-old scored three goals in 40 matches for the Gunners in the previous campaign across various competitions.
The Ghana sensation anchored the midfield with conviction based on his average of 2.1 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 1.2 clearances, 0.8 shots, 0.8 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He was even been accurate when distributing the ball from midfield as evidenced by his pass success rate of 88% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Arsenal will run out in the summer of 2025. Hence, the Gunners are under no immediate pressure to sell him in this off-season.
Can Arsenal Head Coach Mikel Arteta Afford To Lose Partey This Summer?
Partey is a solid tackler of the ball and can earn the ball back for his team at the centre of the park. He can scan the danger quickly and doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot.
The Ghana talent can even shoot the ball with venom from long range and has got the vision to orchestrate a few decent chances in the opponent’s half. He is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also function as a box-to-box midfielder if needed.
Partey remains an important member of Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta‘s squad ahead of the new campaign. He is good enough to fight for a regular starting spot at the Emirates Stadium next season.
Furthermore, Partey knows what it takes to taste success at the highest level. At 30, he might still have a few good years left in him to play at his best. Thus, the North London outfit should think about retaining Partey as they simply cannot afford to lose him this summer.
