In a recent segment on Youtube, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano mentioned that Arsenal are eager to launch a late move for Ajax playmaker Mohammed Kudus this summer. Romano said,
“Let’s see what happens also with Arsenal.
“Because Arsenal in June called for Kudus then they invested big money on Kai Havertz and all the other players they signed this summer including [Jurrien] Timber and Declan Rice.
“So that’s why with Arsenal nothing was going to continue but never say never.
“That’s why Ajax decided to wait and not accept West Ham’s proposals.”
Kudus’ Impressive Numbers At Ajax Last Season
The 23-year-old had a decent season at the Dutch club recently after producing a run of impressive performances for them on the attacking end of the field. Kudus found the back of the net 18 times and secured seven assists in 42 appearances for Ajax in the previous campaign across various competitions.
The Ghana international deserves a ton of credit for being a productive presence in the final third as he averaged 2.3 shots, 1.0 key passes and 3.0 dribbles per game in the Dutch Eredivisie. He was even careful when distributing the ball in the opposition half based on his pass success rate of 87.6% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Get Kudus On Board?
Kudus can engineer some space for himself and usually generates a lot of power with his shot attempts. He has got the eye to play a few decisive passes in the final third and can make a few dangerous runs with the ball in the opposition half.
We can expect Kudus to inject more firepower into Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta‘s frontline. He might even help the North London club challenge across all fronts in the coming seasons.
With all things considered, the Gunners would be wise to get Kudus on board before the end of this transfer window. At 23, he will only get better over the next few years. However, only time will tell whether Kudus can maintain his good form in Premier League football if Arteta can get a deal done for him this month.
