In a recent report, Calciomercatoweb stated that Tottenham Hotspur would have to pay €50m for Juventus defender Gleison Bremer. It has been revealed that Spurs would have to make a €50m bid if they are serious about landing the Brazilian centre-back during this summer transfer window.
Bremer’s Decent Form At The Allianz Stadium Last Season
Bremer was a good performer at the centre of Juvetus’ defence in the previous campaign as he was responsible for putting in a handful of solid performances defensively in Italian football. The Brazilian sensation registered five goals and picked up one assist in 43 appearances for the Italian club last season in multiple competitions.
The 26-year-old was a rock at the back and did well to average 1.0 tackles, 1.4 interceptions and 3.8 clearances per game in Serie A. He was even tidy when distributing possession from inside his half after completing 90.2% of his attempted passes in the Italian top-flight (stats via whoscored).
Bremer’s current contract at Juventus will expire in 2027 which would make it difficult for Spurs to land him this summer.
Is Bremer The Right Fit For Tottenham Hotspur Head Coach Angelos Postecoglu?
Bremer is a good tackler of the ball and can clear the danger when the opposition are on the offensive. He can sense the danger well to secure the ball back for his side on the defensive end of the pitch. Standing at 1.88m, the Brazilian powerhouse is a towering presence and can win his fair share of aerial duels. He is even proficient at playing his way out from the back.
Bremer is good enough to enhance the quality of Tottenham boss Angelos Postecoglu’s defence. He will even help Spurs challenge for a top-four finish in the 2023-24 Premier League campaign.
At 26, Bremer will only get better in the coming seasons which makes him a good fit for Postecoglu’s needs at the North London club this summer. Thus, Spurs would be wise to go all out to lure him to the English capital during this summer transfer window. However, it remains to be seen whether he can cope with the physical nature and high intensity of Premier League football if Postecoglu manages to bring him on board in this off-season.
