In a recent report, InterLive.it revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are tempted to move in for Inter Milan ace Hakan Çalhanoğlu this summer. It has been claimed that Spurs are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Turkish midfielder in this off-season.
Calhanoglu’s Impressive Run Of Form At San Siro
Calhanoglu enjoyed a solid campaign at the Italian club after he put in a series of impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. The 29-year-old registered four goals and eight assists in 49 appearances for his current club last season on all fronts.
The Germany-born sensation performed well at the heart of Inter’s midfield and did well to average 1.5 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 1.7 shots and 2.1 key passes per game in Serie A football. He was even accurate when distributing the ball from midfield as he made 88.3% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Italian football (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at the Italian club will run out at the end of next season. Thus, it makes sense for Spurs to launch a cut-price move for Calhanoglu this summer.
Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu Snap Calhanoglu Up This Summer?
Calhanoglu is a good tackler of the ball and can make a few timely interceptions for his team in the middle of the park. He can strike the ball with venom and accuracy from long range and has got the vision to create a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third.
The Turkish midfield ace is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can fill in as an attacking midfielder or as a defensive midfielder if required. Hence, he would be a good fit for Angelos Postecoglu‘s needs at the North London club. However, only time will tell whether the player can make a smooth transition to life in England.
We can expect Calhanoglu to bring more quality to Tottenham‘s midfield department and help Spurs challenge for some major honours over the next few years. At 29, the Turkish midfield enforcer is playing the best football of his career right now, so Postecoglu would be wise to snap him up before the start of the new season.
