In a recent column on Caught offside, Christian Falk claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are showing interest in Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani this summer. Falk said,
“[Kylian] Mbappe asked Paris Saint-Germain to go for the striker of his national team and also Tottenham have registered an interest with the representatives of Muani, but the eventual transfer fee could be too high.”
Kolo Muani’s Decent Numbers At Frankfurt Last Season
Kolo Muani enjoyed an impressive campaign at the German club as he produced a run of productive displays for them in the final third. The French striker banged in 23 goals and grabbed 17 assists in 46 appearances for his current employers last season on all fronts.
The 24-year-old was a consistent performer at the centre of the park based on his average of 2.4 shots, 1.3 key passes and 2.2 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. However, he lacks quality when distributing the ball deep inside the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 67% in league football (stats via whoscored).
Is Kolo Muani A Good Choice For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu?
Kolo Muani is proficient at finding space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. He has proven his worth as a decent finisher in front of the opponent’s half. He has got the vision to orchestrate a few meaningful openings for his teammates in the final third.
The French striker is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet. However, he needs to work on improving his link-up play up top.
We can expect Kolo Muani to add more firepower to Spurs boss Angelos Postecoglu‘s frontline. He is good enough to help Tottenham compete for some major honours over the next few years.
Hence, Kolo Muani would be a decent choice for the North London club to consider during this summer transfer period. However, only time will tell whether he can cope with the physicality and high intensity of Premier League football if Postecoglu manages to get him on board ahead of the new campaign.
