In a recent edition of the Talking Transfers podcast, journalist Graeme Bailey claimed that Real Madrid want to land Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane this summer. Bailey said,
“There is a real split in the camp in Madrid I’m told.
“There really is between what Florentino Perez wants and what most of the rest of the club wants. The rest of the club want Harry Kane.
“They think he’s the ideal fit for this Real Madrid team and where it’s going as a [Karim] Benzema replacement. Florentino Perez, he gets it right most of the time to be fair to him, but he wants [Kylian] Mbappe.
“If it is [Carlo] Ancelotti’s last season, he will want another number nine. I think that’s why he will be pushing particularly for Harry Kane because if he got [him] in there, that team could be near to perfection.”
Kane’s Decent Goal-Scoring Record In North London Last Season
Kane had another impressive season at the North London club as he banged in plenty of important goals for them in the Premier League. The English striker scored 32 goals and picked up five assists in 49 matches for Tottenham in the previous campaign on all fronts.
The 29-year-old led the line well by averaging 3.4 shots, 1.5 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. However, he was a bit careless with his ball distribution in the final third based on his pass completion rate of 72% in league football (stats via whoscored).
Is Kane A Dream Option For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?
Kane is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. He can be a deadly finisher in front of the opponent’s goal and can also set up a few inviting chances for his teammates up top. The English forward is a powerful runner with the ball and can win his fair share of aerial duels as well.
We can expect Kane to add a lot of goals to Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s attack. He would even serve as a perfect replacement for Karim Benzema at the Madrid club. The English striker might even help Ancelotti’s side compete for some major honours over the next couple of years.
At 29, Kane is playing in his prime and would be a dream option for Los Blancos to pursue during this summer transfer window.
