In a recent report, Nacional mentioned that Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde is on the radar of Chelsea. It has been stated that the Blues are hoping to sign the Uruguay international from Los Blancos this summer.
Valverde’s Decent Form In Spanish Football Last Season
Valverde enjoyed a solid campaign at the Madrid club recently and did well to put in a string of influential performances for them in the opponent’s half. The Montevideo-born sensation found the back of the net 12 times and earned seven assists in 56 appearances for Los Blancos last season in various competitions.
The 25-year-old managed to catch the eye with his contributions in the final third as he averaged 1.9 shots, 1.3 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game in La Liga. He was even tidy when interchanging possession with his teammates after making 88.4% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, Carlo Ancelotti has no immediate need to let him go any time soon.
Can Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Afford To Lose Valverde?
Valverde usually works hard for his team at both ends of the field. He is a decent dribbler with the ball and has got the eye to unlock the opponent’s defence with a killer pass in the final third.
The Uruguayan talent can shoot the ball with power and accuracy from long range and can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top. He is primarily a central midfielder but can also play as a right-winger if needed.
Valverde remains a very crucial member of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad. Thus, the Real Madrid boss simply cannot afford to lose him this summer.
At 25, the Uruguayan footballer has his best years ahead of him. Therefore, it makes no sense for Los Blancos to cash in on him during this summer transfer period. They should rather keep hold of his services for the long run as he could help them challenge for even more major honours in the coming years.
