In a recent report, Calciomercato mentioned that Real Madrid are facing stiff competition for Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic this summer. It has been claimed that Los Blancos would have to rival Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and several other Premier League clubs in the race to secure the services of the Serbian centre-forward in this ongoing transfer window.
Vlahovic’s Impressive Run Of Form In Serie A Football
Vlahovic enjoyed a good campaign at the Allianz Stadium as he produced a series of impressive displays as the spearhead of Juve’s attack. The Serbian sensation registered 14 goals and four assists in 42 appearances for the Italian club last season in all competitions.
The 23-year-old gave a good account of himself in the final third by averaging 2.5 shots, 0.8 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per game in Serie A football. However, he lacks quality when distributing possession from inside his half after completing only 72.1% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Italian football (stats via whoscored).
Vlahovic is under contract at the Turin club until the summer of 2026. Thus, it won’t be easy for Los Blancos to land him on the cheap in this off-season.
Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Move In For Vlahovic?
Vlahovic can be a streaky goal-scorer in the final third when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. He can orchestrate a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in on-target. The Serbian talent can even create some decent openings for others around him. However, as mentioned earlier, he has to find a way to improve his link-up play deep inside the opposition half.
Furthermore, there are some concerns over whether Vlahovic would be able to maintain his good form in La Liga if Real Madrid manage to get him on board this summer.
At 23, Vlahovic has still got a lot of room for improvement but has the skill set to be a success story at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the long run. He would add some much-needed firepower to Carlo Ancelotti‘s attack. Vlahovic might also serve as a good replacement for Karim Benzema at the Madrid club. Thus, it makes sense for Ancelotti to move in for him during this summer transfer period.
