In a recent report, Bild claimed that Newcastle United are set to rival AC Milan for Eintracht Frankfurt ace Jesper Lindstrom this summer. It is understood that the Magpies have identified the Danish attacker as a target for this summer transfer window.
Lindstrom’s Impressive Numbers In German Football Last Season
Lindstrom enjoyed a decent season in Frankfurt as he managed to catch the eye with his performances in the final third. The Taastrup-born talent was involved in 38 matches for the German club in the previous campaign across multiple competitions.
The Danish sensation proved himself to be a good contributor in the opponent’s half by averaging 1.7 shots, 0.7 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. However, he lacked quality when distributing the ball in the final third, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 67.9% in the German top tier (stats via whoscored).
Lindstrom is under contract at the German club until the summer of 2026. Therefore, the Magpies will have to make a good offer if they want to bring him to Tyneside later this year.
What Will Lindstrom Add To Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe’s Side?
Lindstrom has a knack for scoring a few important goals for his team. He can shoot the ball relatively well from long range and has got the eye to play a few killer passes in the final third.
The Danish sensation is a decent dribbler with the ball as well but needs to figure out a way to be more productive in front of the opposition goal. He mainly functions as an attacking midfielder but can also fill in as a striker or play as a winger on the left flank if required.
We can expect Lindstrom to add more firepower to Eddie Howe’s attack at St. James’ Park. He is good enough to fight for a regular starting spot at the Tyneside club next season.
Lindstrom has what it takes to help the Magpies compete across all fronts over the next few years. However, there are some concerns over whether he can adapt to the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football if Newcastle manage to win the race for his services before the end of this summer transfer window.
