According to a report from Express, Stan Collymore has encouraged Jurgen Klopp to bolster the Liverpool midfield department by considering the addition of Aston Villa’s Boubacar Kamara and their long-standing target, Moises Caicedo, from Brighton. These potential midfield additions could further enhance the team’s capabilities and solidify their presence in the squad.
Kamara’s Campaign With Aston Villa Last Season
Kamara has enjoyed a solid campaign at Villa Park after producing dominant displays in the heart of their midfield. The French youngster made 24 appearances for the Villans, creating one assist throughout the season, which does not speak much of his contributions.
However, despite struggling through injuries, the defensive midfielder was still reliable in shielding the back four. He averaged 2.4 tackles, 1.0 clearances and 0.8 interceptions, displaying a tremendous work rate in the Premier League. He was also exceptional in his ball distribution, completing 82.4% of his attempted passes in the English top flight (stats via whoscored).
Kamara’s contract with the West Midlands outfit lasts until the summer of 2027. Hence, the Merseyside club would have to present an enticing offer in order to acquire his services this summer.
Should Liverpool Boss Jurgen Klopp Bring Him Aboard?
Kamara is a versatile player with the ability to excel in multiple positions, ranging from defensive midfield to central midfield and even as a right-back. His athleticism, passing prowess, and defensive acumen are highly regarded, making him an effective reader of the game and a valuable asset in breaking up opposition attacks.
Kamara could be a great fit for the Anfield club because he can provide cover in various positions. With the potential departure of Fabinho, who has been the Reds’ main defensive midfielder for several seasons, his addition would be instrumental in mitigating the potential blow of losing such a key player.
Although still relatively young, Kamara has already showcased his potential to become a top-level player. His strong work ethic and eagerness to continuously improve make him an appealing addition to Liverpool’s squad, offering them valuable depth and contributing to their pursuit of trophies in the coming years.
