In a recent tweet, journalist Ignazio Genuardi stated that Everton have set their sights on Leicester City attacker Kelechi Iheanacho this summer. It has been claimed that the Toffees are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Nigerian centre-forward in this off-season.
#Mercato

Iheanacho’s Difficult Campaign At The King Power Stadium
Iheanacho endured a tough season at the East Midlands club as he failed to help them avoid being relegated from the Premier League. However, the Nigerian sensation deserves credit for netting eight goals and earning five assists in 35 appearances for Leicester in the previous campaign in all competitions.
The Imo-born striker led the line well at times based on his average of 1.4 shots, 0.8 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 76.7% in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Leicester will run out in the summer of 2024. Thus, it makes sense for the Toffees to engineer a cut-price move for him before the end of this transfer window.
Is Iheanacho The Right Fit For Everton Boss Sean Dyche?
Iheanacho has got the pace to cause a lot of headaches for his marker in the final third. He can make some dangerous runs with the ball and can create the odd chance for his teammates up top.
The Nigerian talent can be a streaky scorer in front of the opposition goal. He is primarily a centre-forward but can also play as a secondary striker alongside someone else in the opponent’s half if needed.
Iheanacho would add more firepower to Everton‘s frontline. He knows the Premier League well by now and could make an instant impact at the Merseyside club. Hence, Iheanacho would be a good fit for Sean Dyche’s needs at the moment and could help the Toffees avoid getting dragged into another relegation dogfight in the Premier League next season.
