In a recent tweet, journalist Sacha Tavolieri stated that Everton have made a move for Almeria forward El Bilal Toure this summer. It is understood that the Toffees have expressed their desire to pay the Mali striker’s €40m release clause in installments to bring him to Merseyside in this off-season.
Toure’s Season Of Mixed Emotions At Almeria
Toure had an up-and-down campaign at the Spanish club recently as he struggled to find consistency but managed to put in a few impressive displays for them in the final third. The Mali centre-forward banged in seven goals and earned a couple of assists in 22 matches for Almeria last season in multiple competitions.
The 21-year-old caught the eye at times on the attacking end of the field by averaging 1.4 shots and 0.7 key passes per game in La Liga. However, he needs to work on improving his link-up play in the final third based on his pass success rate of 71.8% in the Spanish top-flight (stats via whoscored).
Toure is under contract at the La Liga club until the summer of 2028. Hence, the Toffees have no other option but to activate his release clause if they want to recruit him in this ongoing transfer window.
What Will Toure Bring To Everton?
Toure excels at finding a yard of space for himself to get a few shots in on-target. He has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates in the opponent’s half. However, the Mali talent has to find a way to improve his link-up play up top. Plus, he is still quite inexperienced at the highest level.
Still, there is no denying that Toure has the potential to become a future star in European football. Therefore, it is only logical for Everton to be interested in acquiring his services this summer.
We can expect Toure to bring more goals to Sean Dyche’s frontline at Goodison Park. He would even offer some healthy competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin at the Merseyside club in the coming seasons. However, there are some concerns over whether Toure would be able to adapt to the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football if Dyche manages to snap him up soon.
