In a recent report, Foot Mercato mentioned that Everton are planning to move in for Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga. It has been stated that the Toffees are keen on bringing the Swedish wide player to Goodison Park this summer.
Elanga’s Lackluster Season At Old Trafford
Elanga had an underwhelming campaign at Man United recently after he struggled to be productive for them in front of the opposition goal. The Swedish sensation made 26 appearances for the Red Devils last season, picking up a couple of assists in various competitions.
The 21-year-old saw a lot of game time come off the bench which could be why he only averaged 0.6 shots, 0.4 key passes and 0.3 dribbles per game in Premier League football. He distributed the ball with conviction after making 76% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
Elanga’s current deal at Old Trafford will expire in the summer of 2026. Therefore, it won’t be easy for the Toffees to sign on the cheap ahead of the new campaign.
Is Elanga A Decent Choice For Everton Boss Sean Dyche?
Elanga has got the pace to cause a lot of headaches for his marker out on the flanks. He can strike the ball with power from all ranges and has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the final third when he is playing well on the pitch. However, the Swedish wing wizard has to find a way to improve his productivity in front of the opponent’s goal.
Elanga is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also function as a right-winger or play as a centre-forward up top if needed.
The Man United outcast would add more firepower to Everton head coach Sean Dyche’s attack. He might even help the Toffees stay out of relegation danger in the Premier League next season.
At 21, the future looks quite promising for Elanga as long as he continues to improve his all-around game with each season. The Merseyside club have got the luxury to offer him a regular starting spot in the upcoming Premier League campaign. All in all, Dyche will do well to lure Elanga to Goodison Park before the end of this summer transfer window.
