In a recent report, The Daily Mail mentioned that Everton are hoping to land Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma on loan this summer. It has been claimed that the Toffees are eager to bring the Dutch wide player on loan to Merseyside in this off-season.
Danjuma’s Unimpressive Loan Spell In North London
Danjuma had an underwhelming loan spell at Tottenham Hotspur last season when he struggled to nail down a regular starting spot in their first XI. The Dutch speedster made 12 appearances for Spurs in the previous campaign, finding the back of the net twice in multiple competitions.
The 26-year-old saw most of his game time come off the bench which could be why he only averaged 0.7 shots and 0.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He was even poor when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 68.5% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Spanish club will expire in 2026. Hence, it makes sense for the Toffees to try and sign him on loan this summer.
Is Danjuma A Good Signing For Everton Boss Sean Dyche?
Danjuma has got the pace to cause a lot of headaches for his marker in the final third. He can even strike the ball with venom from long range. Danjuma is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also fill in as a right-winger or as a centre-forward if told to do so.
However, the Dutch sensation has to find a way to earn more first-team starts if he wants to improve his offensive numbers next season. Hence, Everton could be an ideal temporary home for the player as Sean Dyche can afford to play him regularly in the Premier League next season.
We can expect Danjuma to add more pace to Dyche’s frontline at Goodison Park. At 26, he has his best years ahead of him.
However, Danjuma had a tough loan spell at Tottenham last season which makes him a risky option for the Toffees to consider this summer. Still, the Dutch wing wizard will be a good, loan signing for Everton and might help them steer clear of the relegation zone in the upcoming 2023-24 Premier League campaign.
