In a recent report, Sporx claimed that Everton are facing tough competition for Istanbul Basaksehir keeper Deniz Dilmen this summer. It has been stated that the Toffees will have to rival AC Milan, Villarreal and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the race to sign the Turkish youngster in this off-season.
Dilmen’s Recent Rise In Turkish Football
Dilmen has been a regular feature of Basaksehir’s Under-19 team as he put in a series of impressive displays for them at the back. The Turkish goalkeeper has made 41 appearances for Basaksehir’s U-19 side thus far, conceding 55 goals and earning 12 clean sheets in the process across all competitions. He has also earned one senior appearance for the Turkish club.
The 18-year-old has caught the eye with his performances in the youth levels of Turkish football. However, he is yet to prove his worth outside his homeland.
His current deal at the Turkish club will run out at the end of next season. Thus, Everton could potentially land Dilmen on the cheap this summer.
Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Get Dilmen On Board?
Dilmen can be a safe pair of hands in between the sticks when he is playing well for his team on the pitch. He has got decent reflexes and can pull off a few solid saves at the back. The Turkish whizkid is a good handler of the ball as well and can use his commanding 2.0m frame to dominate his penalty area. However, he needs to figure out a way to improve his ball distribution from the back.
Dilmen has the potential to become a world-class keeper someday. Hence, the Toffees will do well to snap him up as long as they can get him for a fair price during this summer transfer period.
Dilmen has what it takes to serve as an ideal successor to Jordan Pickford at Goodison Park in the long run. He is already good enough to serve an important role in the Merseyside club’s squad next season. At 18, the future looks quite promising for Dilmen, so Everton boss Sean Dyche should go all out to get the Turkish prospect on board before the end of this summer transfer window.
