In a recent print edition, Corriere dello Sport revealed that Everton are eager to seal a move for Salernitana striker Boulaye Dia. It has been claimed that the Toffees could face competition in the form of AC Milan and Fiorentina in pursuit of the Senegalese centre-forward this summer.
Dia’s Impressive Record In Italian Football Last Season
The France-born talent had a fruitful campaign at the Italian club recently after he put in a run of productive displays as the focal point of their attack. Dia banged in 16 goals and picked up six assists in 33 matches for Salernitana in the Serie A last season.
The Senegalese frontman was a consistent performer on the attacking end of the pitch as he averaged 1.5 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He even distributed the ball relatively well based on his pass success rate of 77.3% in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club will expire in the summer of 2026. Thus, Everton would have no choice but to pay Dia’s release clause if they want to recruit him before the start of the new season.
What Will Dia Add To Everton Boss Sean Dyche’s Team?
Dia is proficient at finding space for himself to get a few shots in on-target. He can be a decent finisher in front of the opponent’s goal and has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances in the final third.
The Senegalese talent can even make a few dangerous runs with the ball in the opponent’s half. He mainly functions as a centre-forward but can also fill in as a right-winger if told to do so.
We can expect Dia to add more firepower to Everton head coach Sean Dyche’s frontline. He might even help the Toffees steer clear of the relegation zone in the Premier League next season.
The Senegal international has what it takes to offer some serious competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin at the Merseyside club if Dyche can manage to get him on board during this summer transfer period. At 26, Dia is about to enter his prime soon which makes him an ideal target for Everton to pursue before the start of the new campaign.
